Terms of Service

1. Scope

These terms apply to the DramaLingo apps for iOS and Android, the web app (app.dramalingo.ai) and this site (dramalingo.ai), together "the service". The service is operated by EASTCYBER LTD ("we", "us").

By using the service you agree to these terms and confirm that you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

2. Who may use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, or older where the law where you live sets a higher age. If you are a minor, use the service with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.

3. The service

The service offers AI-made vertical Japanese mini-dramas, tap-to-look-up captions with meanings, end-of-clip word cards, reviews scheduled on a spaced-repetition curve, kana practice and AI lessons.

The service is currently free and has no paid features. Some features have usage limits, such as the number of AI lessons available each week. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and conditions before you buy anything.

We keep changing features and content, and may pause or end some of them. We will try to give notice in the app or on this site before changes that affect you significantly.

4. Accounts

You do not need to sign up to start. We create an anonymous account for you and keep your progress on it.

You can sign in at any time with an email code, a Google account or an Apple account. When you do, the progress on your anonymous account is merged into the account you sign in to.

Keep your email and third-party accounts safe. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. If someone else is using your account, contact us as soon as you can.

5. Rules of use

When using the service, do not:

• use it for commercial purposes beyond your own learning;
• scrape or download content in bulk, reverse-engineer the service, or interfere with or get around its technical limits, including rate limits;
• repackage or resell the content, or offer it as part of another product;
• enter unlawful content in AI lessons, or try to make the AI produce unlawful, infringing or harmful content;
• use the service for anything unlawful, or harm the service or the legitimate interests of other users.

6. AI-generated content

The video, voices and dialogue in the dramas, and the meanings, example sentences, translations and AI lesson questions and marking, are generated wholly or partly by artificial intelligence. The characters and events in the dramas are fictional and bear no relation to real people or organisations.

AI-generated content can be wrong, incomplete or different from how Japanese is actually used. Treat it as a learning aid, not an authority. For anything important, such as exams, work, legal or medical matters, rely on authoritative sources or a qualified professional.

AI lesson questions and marking are generated on the spot by Anthropic's Claude models, and we cannot review each one. If you find an error or something inappropriate, please email us.

Do not enter sensitive personal information in AI lessons, such as ID or bank card numbers, passwords or health details.

7. Content and intellectual property

The dramas, voices, posters, word entries, example sentences, interface design and trademarks in the service belong to EASTCYBER LTD or to their respective owners. As long as you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own learning.

You may share clips with friends using the share feature in the app. Beyond that, do not copy, distribute or adapt content from the service without permission.

Your learning records and the text you type in AI lessons belong to you. You give us the permission needed to store and process them in order to provide the service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. App stores

If you download the app from the Apple App Store, your use of the app is also subject to the App Store rules, including Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement. These terms are between you and EASTCYBER LTD. Apple is not a party to them and is not responsible for the app or its content.

9. Disclaimers and limits on liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be accurate, complete, always available or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time, and delete your account in the app or the web app under Me → Settings → Delete account. Your account and learning data are then deleted and cannot be recovered.

If you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or your use puts the service, other users or third parties at risk, we may suspend or close your account. Where reasonably possible, we will tell you why.

We may also stop running the service. If we do, we will try to announce it in advance in the app or on this site.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will change the effective date at the top of this page when we do. We will tell you about material changes in the app or on this site before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using the service and delete your account.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, United Kingdom. Disputes arising from these terms or the service are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

This does not affect any rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply where you live. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
